A Pilgrimage to Medieval Canterbury

Even before the martyrdom of Thomas Becket, Canterbury was stuffed with the shrines of the saints. But that extraordinary, emblematic event of 1170 set the place on a new path, and the stupendous rebuilding of the Cathedral provided an awe-inspiring setting. My talk aims to raise a distant echo of all this magnificence, ending with the dazzling windows, which amazed the pilgrims with tales of inspiring miracles.
