A Pilgrimage to Medieval Walsingham

All over England, people believed that the Blessed Mary herself had chosen Walsingham as her dwelling, thus conferring a very special favour on the kingdom. In response, most of the medieval kings came to this remote corner of Norfolk, showering splendour onto the shrine. What remains today is a towering ruin, a network of half-forgotten pilgrim routes, a confused tangle of tradition, and the unchanging beauty of the landscape.
